Big Lloyd Luna's OFW Career Advice Column

I call yesterday a day not only because I felt to be complete and very happy—two feelings that I haven’t felt for the longest time. It was a my first date of the year and I think it’s going to change myself for the better.

Let's not argue on whether or not you have a date on February 14 because it won't change reality anyway. Let's talk about one important "date" that's been waiting for you for quite a long time.

The world today is no longer the world when you were born. It's obvious. All the things in your past are irrelevant to you now. Thus, what matter to you then may no longer be important to you now.

Last month I discussed about the choice that we’re making makes us. As a recap let me sum it up in one mind-stirring philosophy, “Success is not something that you pursue. It’s something that you attract by the person you become.”

But most of us, I’m sure, have been going through tiring and tough journey. It seems like the road is never-ending and every bend of the road, we are not really sure if we can still make it or not. Most of the time because we are tired, we fell like giving up and giving in—giving our dreams up and giving our small successes in to a failing situation.

When I was invited several weeks ago to speak on the Values of Infomation Technology (for micro, small, and medium enterprises), I made sure to be there. Such invitation brought me back two years ago when I was still starting my business. It was a very hard time, and all those who are starting can only agree with me.

When our OFWs are at Home

I’ve never experienced working abroad, except for some occasions when I get invited by some media organizations to cover an international event. One of which happened in Thailand in 2004 when I was able to meet Hollywood actor Richard Gere. I was chosen among Filipino journalists who applied to cover the XV International Aids Conference for the Science Development Network, a London-based organization, scholarship.
